South Sudan Oil & Power 2026 to Bring Investors Directly to Juba’s Next Energy Opportunities 2026-10-25 · APO Group · Finance, Energy, Government & policy, Chemicals & materials, Mining & metals, Oil & gas https://energycapitalandpower.africa-newsroom.com/press/south-sudan-oil-and-power-2026-to-bring-investors-directly-to-jubas-next-energy-opportunities?lang=en For exploration companies, the opportunity starts with acreage. South Sudan’s Ministry of Petroleum currently lists 14 open blocks, including A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, B1, B4, C1, C2, D1, D2, E1 and E2, while existing exploration acreage includes B3, 5B and B2. Investors can access geological and block information through the ministry’s data-viewing and acquisition process. The producing side of the market offers a different set of opportunities. South Sudan is targeting higher output from fields that have already been developed, creating demand for enhanced oil recovery, well intervention, drilling, production optimization, equipment and digital technologies. Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC), for example, increased production to more than 60,000 barrels per day in May 2026, while national output was reported at around 174,000 bpd in June. The government has set longer-term ambitions of reaching 230,000 bpd in the short term and 450,000 bpd over time. That creates a market for oilfield service companies and technology providers able to work across mature assets, from seismic and subsurface services to drilling, artificial lift, production chemicals, maintenance and field automation. Nilepet’s own mandate covers exploration, development, operations, production and facilities across the country’s joint operating companies, underscoring the breadth of technical engagement available to prospective partners. Infrastructure is another area where commercial discussions are already moving. South Sudan’s experience with disruptions to crude exports through Sudan has reinforced the importance of resilient transportation and midstream systems. The United Nations documented the 2024 rupture and subsequent disruption to the Bashayer pipeline carrying Dar Blend crude. At the same time, the Ministry of Petroleum is seeking investment in pipelines, storage, distribution and related infrastructure. Downstream development adds another layer. South Sudan is pursuing additional refining capacity, including projects around Tharjiath, Thiangrial and other locations, with the stated objective of increasing domestic fuel supply and reducing reliance on imports. A 2025 government announcement also said a mini-refinery in Unity State had become operational, illustrating the movement from project proposals toward physical downstream assets. SSOP provides a setting for companies to meet directly with potential partners and decision-makers. The 2023 edition attracted more than 600 delegates from 24 countries and produced five strategic agreements covering areas including upstream exploration, drilling capacity, mining and regional energy cooperation. Participants included government ministers, international companies, financiers and energy institutions from Africa and beyond. For companies looking at South Sudan, that network matters. SSOP 2026 will put prospective investors and suppliers in the same room as the Ministry of Petroleum, Nilepet, operating companies, financiers, project developers, technology providers and regional energy stakeholders. In a market where access to decision-makers, local partners and project information can be as important as capital itself, two days in Juba can provide a concentrated opportunity to identify where commercial discussions can move next. Abdul Kamara, Officer in Charge, Vice President of the African Development Bank Group, and Tim Reid, Chief Executive of UK Export Finance, signed the agreement on 21 October in Conakry, Guinea, on the sidelines of the fifth UK–West and Central Francophone Africa Trade and Investment Forum (WCAF V). It is the first framework agreement between the two institutions. “Africa’s financing needs call for partnerships that bring additional capital to the continent at scale. This agreement with UK Export Finance gives our cooperation a structured framework and opens new opportunities to finance the infrastructure and investments that will drive Africa’s growth,” said Abdul Kamara, OIC Vice President of the African Development Bank Group. The Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework for the two institutions to identify, assess and develop co-financing opportunities for sovereign and non-sovereign operations in the Bank’s regional member countries, drawing on each institution’s financial instruments. The partnership will bring together development finance and export credit to crowd in additional capital for Africa’s strategic investments. Priority areas include energy, infrastructure, water and sanitation, health, digital infrastructure, critical minerals, supply chain resilience, alongside agriculture and trade finance. “This agreement deepens the relationship between UK Export Finance and the African Development Bank Group. By combining our financial instruments and expertise, we can unlock greater co-financing for the infrastructure, energy and trade priorities that matter most to Africa's growth. UKEF is committed to supporting that ambition, and this partnership will help us do so at greater scale”, said Tim Reid, Chief Executive, UK Export Finance. The partnership supports the Bank Group’s efforts to mobilise capital at scale, in line with its Four Cardinal Points (https://apo-opa.co/4jHBqUh) strategic priorities. The agreement also reflects the long-standing partnership between the Bank Group and the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom joined the African Development Fund (ADF) in 1973 and became a member of the African Development Bank in 1983. He remains a major contributor to the African Development Fund, which is the Bank Group’s concessional financing window. The UK Export Finance, established in 1919 as the world’s first export credit agency, provides finance and insurance to support UK businesses and is increasingly active across Africa. Unrivaled Regional Cost Leadership: Moving beyond theoretical potential, SNEL leverages an operational, 99.9% clean hydro baseload that delivers a structural cost advantage with an LCOE of ~$32/MWh, significantly outperforming regional peers and offering highly competitive margins for industrial off-takers. Powering the Global Mineral Transition: Delivering reliable, ultra-low-carbon electricity is the strategic prerequisite for the DRC's copper and cobalt mining sectors, driving sustainable industrialisation while securing the critical supply chains essential to the global energy transition. Société Nationale d’Électricité (SNEL SA), the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) national electricity utility, in partnership with Invest Africa (https://www.InvestAfrica.com/) convened senior representatives from the UAE’s investment, finance, energy and infrastructure sectors for a private investment dinner in Dubai on 21 October. The event provided a platform to explore opportunities for international investors to participate in the development and modernisation of the DRC’s energy infrastructure. Led by SNEL Director General, Prof. Dr. Ir. Teddy Lwamba Muba, the discussion focused on SNEL’s proposed investment pipeline, spanning large-scale hydropower, solar energy, battery storage, regional power interconnections, transmission infrastructure and digital metering. The pipeline reflects the scale of investment required to expand electricity supply, modernise the national grid and strengthen the DRC’s role in regional energy markets. The DRC possesses an estimated 167 GW of hydropower potential across 3,350 identified sites, including the approximately 44 GW Inga complex. Yet, according to SNEL’s investment presentation, just 4.6 GW of hydropower capacity is currently installed nationwide. Unlocking this potential represents a significant opportunity to expand low-carbon electricity generation while supporting the country’s industrial development and growing demand for reliable power. Among the opportunities presented were three major hydropower projects: Luapula, with a proposed capacity of 800 MW and an estimated investment of US$1.68 billion; Kibombo, at 246 MW and US$662 million; and Wanie Rukula, at 688 MW and US$3.4 billion. The wider pipeline also includes approximately US$4 billion in solar photovoltaic development, alongside investments in cross-border transmission, grid expansion and smart metering. Reliable, competitively priced electricity will be essential to the DRC’s ambitions as a global supplier of critical minerals, particularly copper and cobalt. Expanding low-carbon power infrastructure can help meet the needs of energy-intensive mining operations, support more sustainable mineral supply chains and create the conditions for wider industrial growth. Improved regional interconnections could also strengthen electricity trade and enable the DRC to contribute further to regional energy security. The discussions took place as SNEL pursues measures to strengthen electricity supply in the near term. Through its partnership with Turkish company Karpowership, SNEL is preparing for the deployment of a floating power plant with an announced initial capacity of approximately 134 MW in Matadi, intended to inject additional electricity into the national grid and support supply to Kinshasa. The initiative illustrates the importance of combining near-term capacity solutions with sustained investment in generation and transmission infrastructure. Prof. Dr. Ir. Teddy Lwamba Muba, Director General of SNEL SA, said: “Reliable, ultra-low-carbon power is the catalyst converting critical mineral endowments into sustainable industrial wealth. SNEL’s strategic transformation delivers exactly that: modernizing our generation fleet, securing regional transmission links, and deploying private capital frameworks under our updated regulatory regime. We are offering international investors disciplined governance, captive industrial demand, and long-term, risk-adjusted returns at the heart of Africa’s clean energy corridor.” Chantelé Carrington, CEO of Invest Africa, said: “The DRC presents significant opportunities for investors seeking to participate in Africa’s next phase of infrastructure development. Reliable electricity is fundamental to industrialisation, regional trade and the growth of competitive, sustainable businesses. By bringing SNEL together with investors and industry leaders from the UAE, we aim to support the partnerships needed to mobilise capital, advance priority projects and realise the country’s energy potential.” The dinner formed part of Invest Africa’s wider work to connect African businesses and institutions with international investors, facilitating partnerships across key sectors of the continent’s economy. Invest Africa and SNEL will look to build on the discussions and support further engagement with prospective investment partners around the DRC’s energy infrastructure priorities. The facility is expected to become Côte d’Ivoire's largest solar plant when operational in 2027. The project won ESG Green Bond Deal of the Year for Africa at the recent Infra Global ESG Awards 2026 in London, while AFC received ESG Green Bond Arranger of the Year for Africa. The double honours recognise the innovation behind the Poro Power transaction and AFC's role in structuring and mobilising investment for sustainable infrastructure. Developed by Ivorian entrepreneurs, the 66-megawatt solar plant is under construction in northern Côte d’Ivoire near the city of Korhogo. It is projected to generate approximately 136 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, meeting the needs of more than 100,000 households and benefiting an estimated half a million people. Beyond providing homes, public services and businesses with reliable power, the project will help Côte d’Ivoire towards meeting its target of increasing renewable energy's share of electricity generation to 45% by 2030. The Government of Côte d’Ivoire is enabling projects such as Poro Power through its initiative to encourage local private-sector participation in large-scale renewable energy projects, led by the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy under Minister Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly. “These awards are a tremendous recognition for an Ivorian project developed to meet the needs of our own communities,” said Jean-Marc Aie, Chairman and CEO of Poro Power 1 S.A. “Our ambition is not simply to generate clean electricity, but to support businesses, create opportunities and contribute to the development of Côte d’Ivoire. The Ministry's strategy to empower local private developers to undertake large-scale renewable energy projects, together with AFC's investment and innovative financing structure, has been instrumental in bringing Poro Power to this stage.”  The €65 million financing package, equivalent to approximately FCFA 42.6 billion, was raised through a green bond — an investment instrument that enables institutions to lend money to projects delivering environmental benefits. It was the first project-finance green bond in both Côte d’Ivoire and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), establishing a precedent for French-speaking West Africa, and was led, structured and fully funded by African institutions. The transaction allowed investors to participate in both euros and CFA francs, making it also Côte d’Ivoire's first dual-currency green bond. Together, these features demonstrate how African financial institutions can mobilise their own capital for major infrastructure projects, using financing structures suited to African markets. AFC invested €43 million (approximately FCFA 28.2 billion) in February 2026 and acted as anchor investor, lead underwriter and co-arranger. The equivalent of a further €22 million was raised from African investors, including local and regional banks, pension funds, insurance companies and high-net worth investors. The bond has a 15-year term, a fixed interest rate of 8.75%, and quarterly repayments following a two-year construction grace period. The financing combines the flexibility of a bond with safeguards normally used in project finance, including first-ranking security, dedicated revenue accounts and contractual protections that separate the project's cash flows from other activities. These measures help protect investors and align repayments with the plant's expected revenues. By bringing together AFC's investment alongside capital from other African institutions through a structure that accommodates both local and international currencies, the transaction offers a potential model for financing further renewable energy and infrastructure projects across the region. Its significance extends beyond Poro Power, providing a practical example of African money financing African projects and a structure that could be replicated across the continent. “Poro Power demonstrates that African financial institutions have both the capital and the expertise to finance large-scale renewable energy infrastructure through our own markets,” said Sameh Shenouda, Executive Board Member and Chief Investment Officer of AFC. “By combining the protections required for long-term project finance with the flexibility of capital markets, we have created a structure that can attract a broader range of African investors. This is an important model for mobilising the investment needed to expand reliable electricity supply, support industry and accelerate the energy transition across the region.” Once operational, the plant is projected to avoid approximately 72,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually — equivalent to taking around 15,600 petrol-powered cars off the road for a year. Delivering the keynote address at the opening of the 2nd Edition of the Mining in Motion Summit in Accra, President Mahama outlined a phased implementation roadmap to ensure the nation’s mineral wealth directly catalyses domestic manufacturing, infrastructure expansion, and job creation. “We have already imposed a ban on the export of iron scrap and non-ferrous metals. I have set a clear goal that by 2030 raw minerals must no longer leave our shores,” President Mahama declared. “Our bauxites, manganese, iron, lithium, and other minerals must support processes and industrial development here at home.” President Mahama said the transition is anchored by transparent regulatory timetables, targeted legislation, and clear commodity-specific benchmarks. He reaffirmed that government policy will pivot from merely extracting raw materials to building complete industrial value chains. Highlighting the integrated aluminium industry as a flagship priority, he stated: “Every major initiative must have clear responsibilities, measurable milestones, and transparent reporting. In Ghana’s aluminium industry, our objective is to modernise VALCO and develop domestic aluminium refining, directly linking Ghanaian bauxite to smelting and downstream manufactured products.” Reassuring the international and domestic investor community, President Mahama said local processing obligations will be matched by state commitments to provide competitive operating conditions. The Government is committed to deploying critical infrastructure, fostering technical skill acquisition, and establishing viable financing frameworks. He observed that legislative action alone cannot build a sustainable sector without a predictable, transparent, and supportive operating environment. “We must translate these frameworks into coordinated investments, regional infrastructure, and larger markets for African producers. Investors need predictable rules, clear institutional responsibilities, and prompt approvals. Communities need confidence that licence conditions and environmental obligations will be rigorously enforced,” he noted. On the continental front, President Mahama rallied African leaders to operationalise the African Mining Vision (AMV) by aligning domestic laws and ratifying instruments establishing the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC) to harmonise mineral governance across borders. Domestically, the President noted that the industrialisation drive must advance broad-based Ghanaian participation. He urged that local enterprises must be empowered beyond auxiliary services to hold substantial equity, managerial control, and technological capabilities across the value chain—including fabrication, laboratory analytics, software engineering, and equipment maintenance. The Summit, themed “One Continent. One Voice on Minerals. Aligning Africa’s Mineral Future,” convened policymakers, industry executives, and continental leaders to deliberate on the sustainable governance of Africa’s critical mineral endowments. It brought together several regional dignitaries and traditional leaders, including the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Africa’s energy story is often around gas discoveries and investment potential. However, the real opportunity extends far beyond the resource itself. Mozambique and Namibia are emerging as important players in Africa’s oil and gas landscape, and what makes these markets particularly exciting is not simply the scale of their energy resources. It is the potential for major energy developments to become platforms for broader economic transformation. The question we should be asking is not only how we develop these resources, but what we build around them and what remains when the project itself is complete. The opportunity extends far beyond the oil and gas facility In Mozambique, the scale of gas discoveries has already attracted global investment and created momentum for infrastructure development. Namibia is generating similar interest through its offshore discoveries. These developments create demand for far more than the facilities required to produce or handle gas. They require ports, roads, logistics networks, power infrastructure, telecommunications and accommodation facilities. They also require a skilled workforce comprising artisans, supervisors, engineers and project managers, supported by the technical and operational expertise needed to deliver large-scale projects. Local suppliers capable of meeting international standards for safety, quality and delivery are equally important. This supporting ecosystem is critical because it is where much of the broader economic opportunity lies. If the ecosystem develops alongside the project, local businesses can participate meaningfully and the benefits can extend throughout the economy. Energy investment can then build demand and capability across multiple sectors rather than remaining concentrated within the project itself. For Southern Africa, this creates an even greater opportunity. Developments in Mozambique and Namibia could strengthen regional supply chains and create opportunities through improved energy security for businesses across multiple countries. The real value lies in recognising these projects as platforms for broader economic growth rather than simply as energy-producing assets. A successful project leaves a legacy For me, success in a major infrastructure project cannot be measured only by whether a facility is completed on time and on budget. Those things are obviously important, but they are only part of the story. The projects that leave the biggest impact are those that develop people and strengthen local businesses creating lasting economic benefits long after construction has finished. That requires something that is sometimes harder to quantify, namely trust. Major energy developments bring together governments, international operators, contractors, local suppliers and communities. These relationships can become complicated, particularly in complex operating environments, but our experience has shown that projects perform better when relationships are built on transparency and shared goals. Problems are solved faster. Decisions can be made more effectively. Stakeholders remain focused on the bigger picture rather than becoming trapped in competing interests. Ultimately, the most successful projects create enduring economic and social value alongside the infrastructure they deliver. Local capability cannot be an afterthought There is often significant attention on the investment and jobs generated by major energy projects. Those benefits matter, but they should be viewed as part of a much longer-term process. If local participation and skills development are treated as box-ticking exercises, the benefits will inevitably be limited. For local economic participation to become transformational, it must be intentional. Governments, operators and contractors need to genuinely invest in building sustainable local capacity. That means creating opportunities for local companies to grow, investing in training programmes and providing pathways for people to develop technical expertise that remains with them long after a project has been completed. The measure of success should extend well beyond the construction phase. Five or ten years down the line, are local businesses stronger? Are local professionals more experienced? Has technical expertise been developed that can be applied to future projects? Is the economy better positioned to take advantage of the next opportunity? If the answer to those questions is yes, then real value has been created. Lessons from complex operating environments Our experience in Mozambique and Namibia has reinforced another important lesson in that technical capability alone does not guarantee success. Every major project has its own challenges, whether they are logistical, regulatory or operational. Understanding the local environment, building strong relationships and remaining adaptable are therefore essential. We have also seen the value of engaging local businesses early and investing in local partnerships. Early investment in local partnerships and skills development generally delivers stronger long-term outcomes. This is particularly important when projects are being delivered in remote or developing regions, where resilient supply chains require careful planning and strong collaboration between stakeholders. These lessons extend well beyond Mozambique and Namibia. They are relevant to energy and infrastructure projects across the continent. Collaboration works best when it starts early The complexity of major energy developments means that no single organisation can deliver their full potential in isolation. Governments, international companies, engineering and construction firms, African contractors and local suppliers all have roles to play. Collaboration succeeds when there is early engagement, clear communication and mutual respect between stakeholders. Where challenges tend to arise is when stakeholders operate in silos or when local companies are brought into the conversation too late. Misaligned expectations can quickly create friction and undermine the potential of the wider project. The most successful projects recognise the complementary strengths that different participants bring. International companies can contribute technology, experience and investment. Local businesses bring valuable market knowledge, established relationships and an understanding of local operating conditions. When those strengths are combined effectively, everyone benefits. This is why local participation should be regarded as a strategic advantage rather than a compliance requirement. It should be understood as a source of capability, and knowledge  that can make the project itself stronger. Oil and gas and the wider question of energy security As industrial and economic demand grows, oil and gas also has an important role to play in Southern Africa’s energy future. Countries need reliable energy sources to support economic growth and industrial development and address energy security challenges while supporting sectors such as manufacturing, mining and heavy industry. Importantly, oil and gas does not have to be viewed in opposition to renewable energy. It can form part of a balanced energy mix as countries develop the reliable energy systems required to support growing economies. There is also a broader regional opportunity. Major energy developments can help connect infrastructure, supply chains and markets across national borders. In doing so, they can create stronger economic linkages and support greater regional integration. The opportunity extends beyond energy production to building more connected economies, stronger supply chains and greater regional growth. Africa’s biggest opportunity and risk Looking beyond individual oil and gas developments, I believe Africa has a unique opportunity to use its natural resources as a foundation for industrialisation, job creation and the development of globally competitive industries. However, that opportunity comes with a significant risk. We could focus too heavily on extracting resources without building the skills, infrastructure and industries needed to maximise their long-term value. Natural resources alone do not create prosperity. What matters is how effectively those resources are translated into economic development and sustainable business growth. That requires a different way of thinking about major energy projects. The oil and gas facility is not the end point. It is one component of a much larger economic system. Ports, roads, logistics, telecommunications, power infrastructure, accommodation, skills, local suppliers and resilient supply chains all form part of the picture. So do the relationships between governments, international companies, contractors, communities and local businesses. If these elements are developed deliberately and in parallel, the impact of an energy project can extend far beyond the project itself. Mozambique and Namibia demonstrate the scale of the opportunity. Their energy developments have the potential to strengthen regional supply chains, improve energy security, support industrial development and create opportunities that extend across borders. The challenge and the opportunity is to ensure that Africa captures that wider value. If we can balance resource development and capability development, support international investment while strengthening local participation, and connect individual projects to broader regional growth, energy investment can become much more than an export opportunity. It can become a foundation for lasting economic transformation. And that is when Africa’s natural resources can truly become an engine for the continent’s future. (TSXV: FTZ, OTCQX: FTZFF, FSE: C3Y) (“Fitzroy” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the results of an integrated seismic and machine-learning (“ML”) targeting study, completed with Fleet Space Technologies (“Fleet”), at the Buen Retiro Copper Project, Copiapo, Chile (“Buen Retiro” or the “Project”). ML targeting generated a ranked set of priority domains (Figure 1) by combining 3D Ambient Noise Tomography (“ANT”) data with prior geophysical surveys, geological models, and approximately 24,400 copper assays from 140 drill holes. The model identified nine areas where the sub-surface characteristics closely resemble the signature of the rocks hosting Buen Retiro’s known copper mineralization. Fleet’s regional and infill ANT surveys mapped the Project’s deeper geology well beyond the depths of current drilling. The technique uses natural seismic noise to build a 3D picture of the rock beneath the surface. This gives Fitzroy a 3D framework to trace known mineralized trends and identify new, previously untested opportunities down to a depth of approximately 400 metres, including toward the 100%-owned Sierra Fritis properties to the east. Extensive alluvial gravel cover in the area makes surface geological mapping and therefore target-generation, much more difficult. Fitzroy has started a 5,000-metre drilling program using diamond and reverse circulation (“RC”) drill rigs. As drill logs and assay results come in, Fitzroy and Fleet will use the new data to update the ML model. In this way, each new drill hole serves three purposes: testing a specific target, improving or validating the ML model, and helping to inform the next drilling decision. Highlights: A ranked portfolio of nine target areas, all completely new and untested, and within 400 m of surface. The targets combine Fleet’s 3D ANT subsurface model with Fitzroy’s own geophysical surveys (IP chargeability, IP resistivity and magnetic susceptibility) and approximately 24,400 copper assays from 140 drill holes. The targets focus on gravel-covered geology and exclude previously mined ground or areas within 200 metres of an existing drill hole. Merlin Marr-Johnson, President and CEO of Fitzroy, commented: “We believe Buen Retiro shares many of the geological characteristics of the major iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) deposits at Candelaria and Mantoverde, yet the sulphide potential of the wider property has barely been tested. To date, the oxide copper mineralisation and its potential to support a low-capital-intensity, near-term production operation have been the focus. "Now, however, we have a tool with which to test the exploration optionality of this large IOCG system in one of Chile’s most prolific copper-producing regions. By combining advanced 3D subsurface imaging with machine learning and our extensive drilling database, we can now identify and prioritise blind exploration targets beneath the gravel cover. If the ML targeting is successful it will be a cost-effective discovery tool, creating value for shareholders.” Input Data The model combined four 3D geophysical datasets with geology, and copper assay results from drilling (Table 1). Click Here to see Table 1 - Summary of the 4 datasets and copper assay results used in the new ML targeting. From 3D Subsurface Imaging to Ranked Drill Targets Fleet’s work at Buen Retiro began with a regional ANT survey commissioned by Fitzroy in early 2026. The ANT survey was designed to build a better picture of the Project’s deeper geology. This identified structures and zones associated with alteration and brecciation at depth, and gave Fitzroy a 3D framework for further exploration. A higher-resolution, closer-spaced ANT survey was then completed over the main area of interest. This infill survey improved the understanding of the faults and fractures that are interpreted to be the main control on both permeability corridors and associated mineralization. The infill survey also allowed closer correlation of the ANT data with existing geophysical and drilling data. The ML targeting phase then converted this geological and geophysical picture into a set of exploration opportunities. The targets are designed to complement, not replace Fitzroy’s own geological interpretation and drill planning. Targeting Method The targeting method follows four steps, from copper prediction through to ranked, conceptual targets: Prediction. The ML model learned the relationship between geophysical data and copper assays from existing drill holes in order to estimate a quantified uncertainty for any point in space within the survey area. The aim was to predict zones where copper mineralization with grades above a 0.5% Cu threshold within 25-metre blocks of rock across the study area might be located, together with an uncertainty value for each block. The 0.5% Cu threshold is used to visually identify blocks at, or above, the target grade and does not represent a uniform estimate of copper grade per block. Refinement. Blocks were removed from consideration if they fell within the mined-out open pit, mapped gravel cover, or within 200 metres of an existing drill hole, so that target selection would focus on ground with genuine exploration value. Domains. The remaining blocks were grouped into nine geographic areas (“domains”), each representing a cluster of blocks with a similar predicted response (see Figure 1) within high-confidence range and interpreted to be geologically significant. Drill Planning Fitzroy and Fleet are now reviewing drill orientations and sequencing for the list of exploration targets. All of the targets are within the top 400 metres of the surface and Fitzroy has allocated 5,000 metres of combined RC and diamond drilling to test the new areas. As drill logs and assay results come in, Fitzroy and Fleet will compare them against the original target list andupdate the model accordingly. The new results will then feed into future versions of the model, sharpening its predictions and helping guide the next round of drill planning. In this way, each new hole serves two purposes: testing a specific target, updating or validating the ML model, and helping to inform the next drilling decision. Technical Context The new exploration domains are conceptual exploration targets that have not yet been tested by drilling. They mark areas where the combined geophysical and assay data look similar to Buen Retiro’s known zones of copper mineralization. The targets do not confirm the presence, grade, size or continuity of mineralization. The reliability of the model depends on the quality and coverage of the underlying data, and tends to decrease with distance from existing drill holes and with depth. For this reason, the targets are intended to be used alongside conventional geological interpretation and other exploration information, not in place of it. About Fleet Space Technologies Fleet Space Technologies is an Australian frontier technology company that uses seismic-led, 3D subsurface imaging to help geoscience teams understand what lies beneath the surface. Fleet combines its imaging techniques with a client’s existing geology, geophysics and drilling data, using machine learning to turn that combined picture into ranked recommendations for discovery, expansion and development decisions. As new drilling and other data become available, Fleet’s models can be updated, so new results continue to sharpen future subsurface decisions and deliver drilling predictions that stand up against ground truth.
