Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the closing ceremony of "Egypt Forum 2026".
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a documentary film entitled “What Took Place at the Forum,” which reviewed the most prominent discussions and ideas put forward during the forum's sessions.
President El-Sisi also greeted Mahmoud Mohamed, a young man of determination with a hearing disability who had expressed his interest to meet the President during the film screened at the opening session. The President further greeted Talia, the young girl who had performed in the opening choir performance.
Following this, the Prime Minister delivered a presentation that began with a chronological overview of the most significant developments witnessed by the state between 2011 and 2014. He then presented an interactive map highlighting the projects implemented and achievements accomplished between 2014 and 2026. At the conclusion of his presentation, the Prime Minister presented President El-Sisi with a book documenting the state's achievements over the course of twelve years.
The second part of the ceremony featured a presentation entitled “The Journey,” which traced the country's state-building process and highlighted the development projects completed across various sectors. This was followed by a presentation delivered by an economic influencer, addressing the challenges facing the energy sector in light of recent regional crises and their economic repercussions.
Three young influencers then reviewed, each within their respective field of specialization, the most notable achievements accomplished over the past several years.
This was followed by a film entitled “The Generation's Dream,” featuring a number of children from Generation Alpha, all under the age of thirteen. Through the film, they spoke about their aspirations and dreams for the future, as well as their vision of the Egypt they hope to see in the coming years.
Subsequently, the Prime Minister announced the outcomes of the proceedings of Egypt Forum 2026. President El-Sisi then invited Dr. Mohamed Shaker, the former Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to present an overview of the achievements made in the energy sector during a critical period and within a remarkably short timeframe.
These achievements helped save Egypt from an energy crisis. Dr. Shaker highlighted the pivotal role played personally by President El-Sisi, both in securing the best possible prices from international companies and in rescuing Egypt from the persistent electricity crisis that the country had been experiencing.
Success stories of some of Egypt's outstanding talents who had achieved international recognition in various fields were presented during the ceremony, after which a commemorative photograph was taken with the President.
Following this, President El-Sisi delivered a speech.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 24, 2026 -- Parabilis Medicines (Nasdaq: PBLS), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to creating extraordinary medicines for patients with serious diseases by unlocking historically undruggable targets, today announced updated safety and efficacy data for zolucatetide, the first and only direct inhibitor of the β-catenin:TCF interaction, in patients with desmoid tumors. The data were presented today in an oral presentation at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2026, taking place October 23–27, 2026, in Madrid, Spain.
The updated results, based on a June 22, 2026, data cutoff, include data from both the dose escalation and dose optimization portions of the ongoing Phase 1/2 trial and reinforce the strong efficacy and favorable safety and tolerability profile observed with zolucatetide. Among response-evaluable patients who began treatment at a starting dose of ≥450 mg, zolucatetide demonstrated an objective response rate (ORR) of 72.2% (13/18) in a 32-week landmark analysis. A disease control rate (DCR) of 100% was observed across all 46 response-evaluable patients who received a starting dose of ≥450 mg, with no disease progression.
Data from a three-arm randomized dose optimization trial supported selection of a 450 mg weekly induction regimen administered for four cycles, followed by 300 mg every two weeks for long-term maintenance. Following productive end-of-Phase 2 discussions, Parabilis has reached alignment with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the selected dose and regimen, on the use of a placebo-controlled study design, and on progression-free survival (PFS) as the primary endpoint for registrational development.
Parabilis plans to initiate the randomized, double-blind PEDESTAL Phase 3 trial (Phase 3 Evaluation of DESmoid Tumor Activity with zoLucatetide) in the first half of 2027, with topline results anticipated in 2029.
“Desmoid tumors are chronic and life-altering for patients, often affecting people at a young age, and patients need treatments that can deliver rapid, deep and durable tumor responses with a tolerability profile suited for long-term treatment,” said Mathai Mammen, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman, CEO and President of Parabilis Medicines. “We designed zolucatetide to directly inhibit β-catenin:TCF, a historically undruggable target at the heart of the biology driving these tumors. The depth and consistency of responses we are seeing, together with the favorable safety and tolerability profile observed to date, reinforce our conviction that zolucatetide has the potential to deliver a truly differentiated medicine and meaningfully expand the number of patients who can benefit from treatment. We are very pleased with the clarity of the FDA’s feedback on our registrational development strategy, and with our Phase 3 regimen selected, we are moving with urgency to bring this medicine to patients.”
Updated Phase 1/2 Results
As of the June 22, 2026, data cutoff, 76 patients with desmoid tumors had been enrolled and treated across all dose levels in the dose escalation and dose optimization portions of the trial. Median age was 37 years (range 19–80), and 69.7% of patients were female. The population included both patients who had previously been treated with and failed gamma-secretase inhibitors (GSIs) and patients naive to GSIs.

The World Bank-funded South Sudan Energy Sector Access and Institutional Strengthening Project (ASSIST) is advancing grid expansion in Juba, opening new opportunities for contractors, equipment suppliers and technology providers as South Sudan works to expand electricity access.
The $53 million program includes a $16.8 million international procurement package for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of grid densification and extension infrastructure in Juba. The investment is designed to connect additional residential, commercial and industrial consumers while strengthening the capital’s distribution network.
The project forms part of a wider power infrastructure pipeline taking shape across South Sudan, including domestic distribution upgrades and a planned 400-kV interconnection with Uganda. These opportunities will be in focus at South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2026, taking place November 24–25 in Juba, connecting government, utilities, financiers, project developers and technology providers as the country seeks investment across its transmission and distribution network.
South Sudan is simultaneously advancing cross-border electricity infrastructure designed to strengthen regional power trade and increase access to additional generation capacity. In September 2026, implementation of the South Sudan–Uganda Power Interconnection Project commenced following the approval of $121 million from the African Development Fund for the Ugandan component. The regional project involves the development of a 400-kV transmission connection between Olwiyo in Uganda and Juba, creating opportunities across medium- and low-voltage networks, transformers, substations, electrical equipment, engineering, construction and grid-management technologies.
The African Development Fund approved $153.66 million in financing for the project in 2025, including $33.66 million for South Sudan. Once operational, the interconnection is expected to enable an average annual exchange of 624 GWh of electricity between the two countries and improve electricity access for approximately 286,710 people in South Sudan.
South Sudan is also advancing investment in its domestic distribution network. In May 2026, the African Development Bank reported supplementary financing of approximately UA10.61 million for the Juba Distribution System Rehabilitation and Expansion Project. The project includes the installation of approximately 357 km of low-voltage lines and 201 transformer stations, alongside efforts to integrate the South Sudanese grid with Ethiopian generating capacity. Up to 20,000 new consumers are expected to benefit from the expansion.
Together, these projects demonstrate the scale of infrastructure and funding required to support South Sudan’s electricity expansion ambitions. Against this backdrop, the upcoming SSOP 2026 conference will provide a platform for investors, financiers, regulators, utilities, project developers and technology providers to engage on the country’s evolving power infrastructure pipeline. The event will feature high-level panel discussions, project showcases and exclusive networking sessions exploring opportunities for South Sudan to mobilize capital, strengthen regional power cooperation and accelerate transmission and distribution development.
