APO Group (www.APO-opa.com), the communications consultancy built for performance across Africa, today announced the appointment of former International Criminal Court Spokesperson and Head of Public Affairs Fadi El Abdallah as Chief Strategic Advisor, Reputation and Crisis Communications, and the launch of APO Group's new Strategic Reputation & Crisis Communications division. It helps multinational corporations, financial institutions, African governments and sovereign entities, pan-African corporates, and organisations across the continent's fastest-growing sectors prepare for, manage, and recover from high-stakes reputational crises. Its services span crisis rapid response, executive counsel, crisis readiness, reputation recovery, and continuous crisis intelligence.

As the official Spokesperson and Head of Public Affairs of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for 15 years, El Abdallah, PhD, operated at the centre of some of the most complex and high-profile institutional crises of the past two decades, managing media pressure, countering coordinated disinformation campaigns, advising senior leadership under extreme public scrutiny, and coordinating crisis response across multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions.
On the appointment, Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard (www.Pompigne-Mognard.com), Founder and Chairman of APO Group, said: “Reputation and crisis communications are among the most under-served disciplines in Africa, yet also among the most critical. For 15 years, Fadi managed institutional reputation during coordinated disinformation campaigns, sanctions crises, and war crimes trials, before a global audience and under permanent legal constraint. There is no comparable practitioner on the continent, and we are proud to welcome him to APO Group to lead this division.”
Bas Wijne, CEO of APO Group, added: “What makes this division different is that we do not only advise, we execute. A strategy that sits on paper is worthless when a narrative is moving across 12 markets in three languages overnight. Fadi brings the strategic framework, and APO Group brings the infrastructure to deploy it across all 54 African markets in real time. That combination does not exist anywhere else in Africa.”
On his appointment as Chief Strategic Advisor, Reputation and Crisis Communications, Fadi El Abdallah said: “Reputation and crisis communications in Africa are at an inflection point. Governments and organisations are facing reputational threats that are faster, more complex and more consequential than ever before, driven by digital media, political pressure and an increasingly discerning global audience. What has been missing is a firm with both the strategic depth to advise at the highest level on reputation and crisis, and the infrastructure to deliver at scale. That is exactly what APO Group offers, and it is why I am here.”
APO Group operates two integrated business units that together make it unique on the African continent, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2027 and trusted by 300+ organisations including Emirates, Canon, Nestlé, the NFL, DHL, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), and Afreximbank.
The first is Africa's largest press release and content distribution service, the Africa Newsroom newswire, reaching 450,000+ journalists and news organisations across all 54 African markets in English, French, Arabic, and Portuguese. Through partnerships with Bloomberg Terminal, Thomson Reuters Eikon, LexisNexis, and Dow Jones Factiva, APO Group's distribution extends directly into the international financial and investor community, guaranteeing visibility with the analysts, fund managers, and financial decision-makers who shape investment flows into Africa.
The second is a full-service strategic communications consultancy managing complete communications strategy and delivery for some of the leading organisations active in Africa: building strategies from the ground up; creating all content formats through a dedicated in-house content department (press releases, opinion pieces, digital assets for social media, white papers, research reports, executive speeches, and multimedia content); organising press conferences, interviews, and international online press conferences; managing influencer programmes; and securing editorial coverage across the continent and in leading international media including the Financial Times, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, TV5 Monde, Bloomberg, Reuters, and AFP. APO Group has communications professionals on the ground across Africa, a pan-African workforce that no global advisory firm can match in breadth, depth, or local knowledge.
When an organisation needs to move a narrative at speed, APO Group mobilises both business units simultaneously. No other advisory firm on the continent can make this claim.

Austin personal injury law firm Joe Lopez Law, P.C., through its El Joe Me Ayudó | Personal Injury Network brand, in conjunction with the Falcon Law Group PLLC secured a $7.5 million settlement on behalf of a client seriously injured in a May 2025 highway collision involving a vehicle operated by one of the nation's largest delivery companies.
The crash was caused by a distracted delivery driver who missed a highway turn and abruptly braked, leading to a serious collision.
For more than a year, the delivery company and its insurer maintained that Lopez's client was responsible for the crash.
Lopez and Falcon Law conducted a thorough investigation, collecting electronic evidence and deposing key witnesses to challenge the company's stance.
A pivotal moment came during the investigating police officer's deposition. Falcon Law’s Michael Darling showed the officer video footage and other evidence the delivery company had not provided during the original crash investigation.
After reviewing the previously unavailable evidence, the officer changed his opinion regarding responsibility for the collision.
"What makes this case particularly troubling is that the company had footage that could have helped explain what happened from the very beginning," said Joe Lopez, founder of Joe Lopez Law. "Instead, our client spent more than a year being blamed for a crash. When we finally put that evidence in front of the investigating officer, even he changed his opinion about who was responsible."
The case highlights the importance of independently investigating commercial vehicle accidents, particularly when large corporations possess electronic evidence that may not be available to injured motorists or investigating authorities.
Commercial delivery vehicles can generate extensive electronic information, including onboard camera footage, vehicle tracking data, driver activity records and other information that may help establish how a collision occurred.
"When you're going up against a billion-dollar company, you cannot simply accept its version of events," Lopez said. "You have to dig into the evidence, question the witnesses and be prepared to challenge the narrative. That's what we did, and ultimately we secured a $7.5 million settlement for our client."
This settlement conclusively resolves the client's injury claims from the collision.

Key Points
Marathon Petroleum has been named a 2026 Top Company for Women to Work in Trucking by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of Women In Trucking.
This is the fifth year in a row MPC has earned this recognition reflecting MPC’s commitment to building a supportive workplace with opportunities for career growth, development and advancement.
MPC transport drivers have access to competitive benefits, including paid parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement and retirement.
Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) has been recognized as a 2026 Top Company for Women to Work in Trucking by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of Women In Trucking (WIT). The recognition highlights companies across the commercial freight transportation marketplace that are creating workplaces where all employees can build careers, lead and grow.
MPC was selected through a two-step process that includes a review of nominated companies based on key criteria, including a corporate culture of inclusion, competitive compensation and benefits, flexible hours and work requirements, professional development opportunities and career advancement opportunities. The nomination was then validated by an industrywide vote involving more than 18,000 trucking professionals, including executive management, operations, safety, HR and talent management executives, and professional drivers.
“This recognition is meaningful because it reflects the work our teams do every day to create an environment where drivers can succeed safely, feel supported and see a long-term future in transportation.”
This is the fifth straight year MPC has earned the recognition. MPC also was named to “The Elite 30,” which recognizes the 30 companies that generated the highest number of industrywide votes in the program.
“This recognition program highlights the trucking industry leaders that are making meaningful investments in building more inclusive and supportive workplaces,” said Brian Everett, group publisher and editorial director of Redefining the Road magazine. “Recognizing these companies celebrates the progress they’ve made and the positive example they continue to set for the industry.”
The list includes motor carriers, third-party logistics companies and original equipment manufacturers. Honorees will be recognized at the WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo Oct. 25-28 in Dallas.
“This recognition is meaningful because it reflects the work our teams do every day to create an environment where members of our transport team, including drivers, can succeed safely, feel supported and see a long-term future in transportation,” said Katie Meschede, Marathon Petroleum Transport Operations Director West. “Safety is the key to our operations, and that fundamental commitment goes hand in hand with building a culture where people have the resources, training and opportunities to grow.”

Creditors vote 99% in favor of restructuring their securities
Restructuring plan is set to take effect by the end of 2026
The company terminates consulting agreements with members of the supervisory board
FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY - October 20, 2026 - Branicks Group AG (ISIN: DE000A1X3XX4 and DE000A41YEE3) (the “Company”) announces that the holders of the corporate bond in the amount of 400 million euros, originally due in 2026, have voted in favor of a restructuring of the Company’s liabilities with 99% of the votes cast. In doing so, they have also endorsed the financial restructuring plan developed by the Company for Branicks.
The restructuring of liabilities arising from bonds, promissory note loans, and registered bonds sets September 30, 2030, as the new maturity date for a total of 375 million euros, and September 30, 2028, for an additional 220 million euros.
“Our creditors’ vote is a sign of confidence in our restructuring plan. With the time we've gained, we can now refocus fully on our business and use our resources and expertise to capitalize on opportunities in what remains a challenging market for us,” said Josef Schultheis, Chief Restructuring Officer at Branicks Group AG.
Following the creditors’ decision, a number of technical requirements for implementation still need to be clarified in the coming weeks. The goal is for the company’s restructuring plan to take effect by the end of the 2026 fiscal year, or by March 31, 2027, at the latest.
The Company further announces that it has terminated, by mutual agreement, the consulting agreements with MDC Matthias Danne Consulting GmbH and BLACKLAKE Management Partners GmbH, whose managing directors are Supervisory Board members Dr. Matthias Danne and Dr. Johannes Conradi, respectively.
