Silas Chu, HKTDC Associate Executive Director, said: "This year's Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia achieved a fruitful outcome, bringing together exhibitors, buyers, investors and industry players from around the world. The fairs generated strong sourcing momentum and facilitated numerous business deals and partnerships. As the industry continues to transform and upgrade, the role of trade fairs is also evolving, extending beyond traditional product showcases and sourcing activities to become important platforms for fostering innovation, industry exchange and cross-sector collaboration, while reinforcing Hong Kong's strengths as an international trade centre. The newly introduced Future Industries Zone attracted strong interest from technology companies, investors and buyers, while the GoGlobal Connect Zone and its related activities were also well received, reflecting strong demand from Chinese Mainland enterprises seeking to expand overseas and leverage Hong Kong's professional services. This highlights our city's unique role as a bridge connecting industries with global markets."
Mr Chu added: "As Hong Kong's October exhibition season continues, the HKTDC will organise a series of major exhibitions and conferences, including the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, and Eco Expo Asia later this month. These events will create more cross-industry collaboration opportunities while leveraging Hong Kong's unique advantage in connecting the Chinese Mainland with international markets. They also align with the Hong Kong SAR Government's latest Policy Address and first Five-Year Plan which emphasise accelerating innovation and technology development, promoting AI adoption and strengthening Hong Kong's position as an international trade centre."
Survey: over 80% of respondents optimistic about ASEAN and Middle East markets; AI emerges as a key growth driver
An independent research agency commissioned by the organisers interviewed over 1,150 buyers and exhibitors during the fairs. The survey found that 96% of respondents expected overall sales to increase or remain stable over the next 12 to 24 months, reflecting cautious optimism about the industry's medium-term market outlook.
Respondents were particularly positive about future sales prospects in several areas, with the most promising growth opportunities identified in ASEAN (83%), the Middle East (83%) and Chinese Mainland (81%). The findings suggest that companies are actively diversifying their business footprint and exploring new growth markets.

Telecom Acquisitions Group (TAL), the Horsham-based holding company behind several retail broadband brands, has begun onboarding 13,500 TalkTalk broadband customers to its Fleur Telecom ISP business.
The customers have been with TalkTalk for many years, receiving services over traditional copper lines and ADSL technology, now reaching the end of its lifecycle.
Fleur Telecom will upgrade customers to fibre using the same proven approach it has successfully applied over the past year, with a clear focus on continuity and service quality for the move to the new network environment.
“TalkTalk is one of the largest wholesale suppliers to the UK broadband industry, with equipment in around 2,900 BT exchanges,” commented TAL CEO Nigel Barnett.
“It offers one of the most extensive networks in the UK alongside its new owner, BT Group, making it a natural wholesale partner for new residential broadband providers. As in any industry, not every new provider succeeds; some choose to change direction. That’s where TAL steps in. Because the transfer between TalkTalk and TAL is simply a seamless internal account change, customers experience no loss of service.
“These customers will move to our Fleur Telecom brand. Their existing telephone numbers and email addresses will be retained, and all current terms and conditions will remain in place. In most cases, customer payment arrangements will also stay the same,” Barnett added.
TAL has worked in this way with other network operators over the years, including CityFibre, Cable & Wireless (now Vodafone), MS3 and Full Fibre.
Onboarding of all 13,500 TalkTalk customers commenced on 1 September 2026. Following the transfer, customers will be supported 24/7 by TAL’s UK-based service centre, which also looks after its established Home Telecom and Elite Telecom brands. In addition, every customer will have access to a mobile app to help them manage their account.
ABOUT TAL
TAL offers services from all the traditional network suppliers alongside Layer 2 and Layer 3 connections with the majority of UK altnets. The group has now grown to more than 80,000 customers, with projected turnover of around £36 million in 2027. The company plans to continue this growth through organic expansion and further acquisitions as opportunities arise.
ABOUT TALKTALK
Founded in 2003 as a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk demerged in 2010 and was taken private in 2021 by Toscafund Asset Management. The organisation offers Full Fibre broadband (speeds up to 900 Mbps), landline phones, and TV add-ons, along with its wholesale connectivity business PlatformX Communications (PXC). BT Group acquired TalkTalk and PXC this month in a £400 million rescue deal to protect 2.5 million residential, business, and wholesale customers.

African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) (www.Afreximbank.com) has released its Zimbabwe Country Brief, providing a comprehensive analysis of the southern African nation's macroeconomic outlook, trade performance, financial sector development and debt sustainability profile. The brief explores Zimbabwe’s economic growth potential support by its deep regional ties and diverse natural resource endowment that is increasingly central to the global energy transition.
Among the brief’s key highlights is Zimbabwe’s strong growth momentum. Real GDP growth is estimated to have strengthened to 8.3% in 2025, driven by a rebound in agricultural production, robust gold exports and elevated global gold prices. Growth is forecast to remain solid at 5% in 2026, supported by stronger agricultural yields, elevated government spending and a favourable outlook for gold mining. Most strikingly, inflation is forecast to ease dramatically to 3.9% in 2026, down from an estimated 55% in 2025, as the Zimbabwe Gold currency stabilises on the back of stronger domestic gold output and improved foreign-currency inflows.
Zimbabwe holds the largest lithium reserves on the continent and boasts some of the highest-grade spodumene deposits globally, positioning the country as a critical supplier of battery minerals at a time of surging global demand for electric vehicle and energy storage technologies. Gold, platinum group metals, diamonds and chrome complete a resource profile that few economies on the continent can rival.
Furthermore, this edition reveals how Zimbabwe’s trajectory is particularly compelling, given the government’s deliberate shift from raw commodity exporter to industrial processor. The brief highlights February 2026 restrictions on exports of raw minerals and lithium concentrate as a decisive step in the value-addition agenda, with the potential to reposition Zimbabwe within global battery supply chains. The National Development Strategy 2 framework for 2026-2030 reinforces this direction, prioritising macroeconomic stability, infrastructure, industrialisation and job creation. The brief also points to further longer-term upside from the May 2026 petroleum production-sharing agreement covering the Cabora Bassa Basin oil and gas project.
The brief further highlights a growing and evolving financial sector, with InnBucks MicroBank's May 2025 partnership with Mambu marking a significant step in the development of digital banking and broader financial inclusion.
With a solid GDP growth outlook for 2026, a dramatically improved inflationary environment and one of Africa's most strategically valuable mineral endowments being actively developed for higher-value production, Zimbabwe presents a timely and powerful story of economic transformation.
Commenting on the release of the brief, Yemi Kale, Group Chief Economist and Managing Director, Research and Trade Intelligence at Afreximbank, said:
“Zimbabwe’s rich endowment of critical minerals offers a powerful opportunity to move beyond the export of raw commodities and build competitive regional value chains anchored in local production, beneficiation and value addition. By converting its lithium, gold, platinum-group metals and other resources into higher-value products, Zimbabwe can deepen its industrial base, create quality jobs and expand trade with markets across Africa. This is fully aligned with Afreximbank’s mandate to transform the structure of African trade and accelerate the continent’s industrialisation under the AfCFTA.”
