Global Business Series

Friday 23 October, 2026 The Global Business Series is a collaboration between leading academics at Tsinghua University, China (12th in World University Rankings 2026) and the London School of Economics. In the series. Six distinguished academics tackle four different aspects of doing business internationally – from family businesses to digital platforms to law and marketing. Critical Decisions The authors examine critical issues around succession, continuity and inheritance – issues which every family business will eventually face. Through detailed research the authors provide original insights and lessons. Anyone playing a key role in a family-owned business will benefit from reading this insightful book. The authors: “The reason why the development of family businesses is bumpy and the succession issues are complicated and difficult is that family businesses… involve not only the logic of business and economic operations, but also multiple social and cultural relationships.” Platform Governance In a world where our existence is largely platform-based – from shopping on Amazon to socializing on Facebook – understanding the mechanisms governing these digital habitats is paramount. This authoritative guide takes you from the origins of these platforms to the strategic shift required to move from a traditional product strategy to a winning platform strategy.  It offers vital insights and guidance for understanding and succeeding in today’s digital economy, helping readers navigate the complexities of an increasingly platform-based economy. Think Big Using legal thinking, Han Liu looks at how to analyse situations, balance competing interests and make good decisions – both in business and more broadly in life and everyday situations. This book will empower readers to think critically and strategically. It will help shift mindsets from simply following rules to understanding the deep, strategic logic behind them. It's a journey that will sharpen minds, helping to make better, more informed choices. “If you’re worried about legal jargon, don’t be. This book explains legal thinking in everyday language.” – Han Liu, from the foreword Wellbeing Marketing Examines transformative philosophy to benefit customers and employees. When maximising profit has often become a demon justifying deceptive tactics, exploited workers and unhappy customers, Wellbeing Marketing emerges as a new way of thinking. Through fascinating case studies of global giants like Disneyland and Walmart, alongside unique enterprises like Nakagawa Masashichi Heirloom Store, Fei Li demonstrates that profit and happiness are not mutually exclusive; rather, when an organization aligns its mission with the pursuit of wellbeing, it achieves a sustainable "unity of knowledge and action" that benefits society. About the series authors: Dr Hao Gao is Director of the Research Centre for Global Family Business at Tsinghua University, China. Dr Victor Zheng is Director of the Centre for Social and Political Development Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Yong Wong and Ke Rong, experts in business ecosystems and the digital economy, are Professors and Directors at the Institute of Economics, School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University (China). Han Liu is an assistant professor and the Vice-Dean of Tsinghua University Law School. He received his master’s degree from Yale University. He is based in China. Novomins puts women’s health in the driver’s seat with first-ever OOH campaign

Friday 23 October, 2026 The nutrition brand has taken its women’s health message onto the streets of London with a taxi activation featuring ambassador Vicky Pattison, creating space for conversations about issues women too often feel go unheard. Novomins has made its first move into out-of-home (OOH) advertising with Put Women’s Health in the Driver’s Seat, a London taxi activation designed to put women’s health in the spotlight. On Wednesday 21 October, North-East personality and Novomins women’s health ambassador Vicky Pattison took to central London in a fully branded Novomins taxi, offering women free rides and opening up conversations about the health concerns that affect them. The activation focused on issues women may find difficult to discuss, or feel have been dismissed as ‘normal’. By taking these conversations into everyday public spaces, Novomins aimed to give women the opportunity to speak openly about their experiences and feel heard. The taxi featured Novomins’ distinctive pink branding, product imagery and the message, “Whatever your health goals, we have a gummy for it!”. While the creative brought the brand into view across London, the campaign’s central purpose was to encourage more open conversations about women’s health. Valerie Stark McQuillan, Formulator, Neuroscientist and Chief Marketing Officer at Novomins, said: “Too many women are still being told their symptoms are ‘normal’, or waiting years for a diagnosis, simply because no one stopped to really listen. ‘Put Women’s Health in the Driver’s Seat’ is about changing that. Vicky brings honesty and warmth to every conversation, and by giving women a lift across London, we’re giving them space to talk about the things that bother them, the things that get brushed aside, and the things they’ve never felt able to say out loud. At Novomins, women’s health isn’t a side project; it’s a serious focus. As a formulator and neuroscientist, I know how much daily nutrition can matter, which is why together with our in-house team of experts I created a dedicated range of gummy vitamins for women. Whether a woman is looking after her urinary health, supporting herself through her monthly cycle, or caring for her intimate balance, we want to be part of that everyday support. But this campaign is about more than products. We’re here to educate, to listen and to give women a voice.” The campaign marks Novomins’ first-ever OOH brief, with Loud! OOH appointed to bring the activation to life. It shows how outdoor advertising can create a physical platform for conversations that deserve greater attention, rather than simply putting a brand in front of an audience. The release follows the news that Loud! OOH has been shortlisted for ‘New Agency to Watch’ at the Prolific North Marketing Awards 2026, a milestone for the independent advertising agency as it continues to build its presence in the UK out-of-home market. Through the activation, Novomins has used its OOH debut to take its women’s health message directly to the streets, with a clear commitment to listening, education and giving women a voice. For brands looking to explore taxi advertising as part of their own campaigns, Loud! OOH has put together a guide to taxi advertising in the UK, covering formats, costs and opportunities.

3,814-Acre Kronkosky Natural Area Targets Late Fall 2026 Opening Between Boerne and Bandera

Pipe Creek, TX Friday Oct 23, 2026 @ 10:20 AM Central — The Building Texas Show's latest episode, New Texas State Park Near Boerne: Why It Isn't a Park | ABK, hosted by Justin McKenzie and published October 21, 2026, delivers an on-the-ground preview of the Albert & Bessie Kronkosky State Natural Area (ABK), the 3,814-acre site straddling Bandera County and Kendall County along Highway 46 between Boerne and Bandera. New site superintendent Stephanie Kwiatkowski, who stepped into the role in June, explains why Texas Parks and Wildlife is targeting late fall 2026 to open the gates, and why the agency classified ABK as a state natural area rather than a state park. The conversation is a return visit for the show, which previously hosted founding superintendent James Rice while the land was still in survey and planning. Kwiatkowski walks listeners through several specific threads: The legal and operational distinction between a state park and a state natural area under the Texas Admin Code, with comparisons to Government Canyon, Lost Maples, Inks Lake, and McKinney Falls. The 28 miles of multi-use trail open to hikers, mountain bikers, joggers, and strollers. Operational lessons from the July 2026 flooding event, which washed out landscaping, trails, and campsites before any public visitation. Kwiatkowski frames the park-versus-natural-area question as a spectrum between recreation and conservation, and she is candid about the stakes of protecting the ABK viewshed. Standing in a UTV above the canyons during her first weeks on site, she described the moment this way: "The site owns both sides of those canyons. And so that view, that viewshed, it is safeguarded for, um, forever." She also credits the volunteer corps assembled by James Rice, a former biologist, calling the relationships "integral to our success as a site." The episode digs into the ecological specifics that justify ABK's protective designation: bigtooth maples that rival those at Lost Maples State Natural Area, the riparian corridors along Red Bluff Creek and Pipe Creek, and the transition zones between ash juniper woodlands and creek bottoms. Kwiatkowski traces her own path from a childhood of camping in a pop-up trailer, through an environmental science degree with a minor in environmental sociology, GIS and consulting work, a formative seasonal job with the City of New Braunfels parks, the park operations trainee role at the Lost Pines Complex (Bastrop and Buescher State Parks), and an assistant superintendent stint at Pedernales Falls State Park before her June promotion. Construction crews, subcontractors, and a six-person site team are now preparing cabins, screened shelters, tent sites, backcountry camping, and hike-and-bike infrastructure for public access. About The Building Texas Show The Building Texas Show, hosted by Justin McKenzie, spotlights the people, places, and projects shaping Texas communities, from Hill Country conservation to small-business entrepreneurship. New episodes publish weekly across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, with sponsorship support from Chisos Boots. The ABK episode is available now wherever podcasts are heard.
