SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 14, 2026 -- Consumers may start preparing to compare Black Friday prices as early as October, weeks before the event. HotDeals' analysis of U.S. search trends and consumer research points to an extended research window rather than a single day when shoppers begin checking prices. In a 2025 survey of more than 1,000 U.S. online shoppers, 22% said they planned to begin researching holiday purchases in October.

New trustees bring fresh skills, greater diversity and extensive experience from across the voluntary, health, technology and academic sectors
The UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) has appointed seven new trustees to its Board, strengthening the charity’s skills, experience and geographic reach as it continues to support the growing Men’s Sheds movement across the UK.
The new Board includes two financially qualified Trustees, as well as new expertise in commercial and leadership, technology and AI, health and wellbeing, social research, strategy, operations and community development.
“At a time when many charities have reported challenges in attracting people to trustee roles, the quality and the number of applications emphasizes the growing profile of Men’s Sheds and the appeal of UKMSA’s work as a charity, “said Rob Lloyd, chair of trustees.
“With 40 applications, we have recruited very specifically against gaps identified by the Board’s skills audit. The new Board brings expertise, and we have increased the number of people who also bring the lived experience of being a Shedder. This grassroots connection is vital for the movement we exist to support.”
Strong connection to the Men’s Sheds movement
Of UKMSA’s new Board, 57% are active Shedders, with two members also serving as UKMSA volunteer Ambassadors.
The Board continues to have representation across all four UK nations, with at least one trustee based in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The seven new trustees are:
David Algar - Trustee
David has worked in large consumer goods companies with a broad academic background spanning economics, international relations, psychology and politics.
David has also published books on Men’s Health, bringing a particular interest in the social issues affecting men and the wider context in which Men’s Sheds operate.
Josh Gooch - Trustee
Josh is Strategy & Operations Manager at LEGO Digital Play. He works closely with senior leadership to shape strategy, drive cross-functional priorities and support organisational growth.
Previously, Josh spent five years in strategy consulting at PwC Strategy&, advising organisations across a range of sectors on strategic and operational challenges.
Andrew Machin - Trustee and Treasurer
Andrew is an active Shedder and brings more than 30 years’ experience working in finance and governance across the NHS and charity sector. As Treasurer, he will provide financial leadership and strengthen the Board’s oversight of the charity’s financial management and governance.
Kerry Millett - Trustee, Shedder
Kerry co-founded the award-winning Broadstairs Town Shed, established in 2014 as a Shed for everyone aged 50 and over.
As a primary driver and trustee behind Broadstairs Town Team Ltd., Kerry has extensive experience in community development and engagement. She frequently writes features, gives talks and advocates for community initiatives.
Bruce Newlands - Trustee, Shedder
Bruce is an award-winning architect and co-founder of The Inverclyde Shed - Meet, Make, Grow & Share. He is particularly passionate about creating opportunities for intergenerational learning, bringing people together to share knowledge, develop practical skills and learn from one another.
Rob Parker - Trustee, Audit & Risk Committee
Rob is a qualified accountant with more than 30 years’ experience in multi-site, consumer-facing businesses. His career has included senior leadership roles in a range of retail businesses, including as both CFO and CEO of Topps Tiles Plc.
His commercial, financial and strategic experience will bring additional strength to UKMSA’s approach to organisational risk, business development and consideration of future partnerships.
Professor Denise Turner - Trustee
Professor Denise Turner brings extensive experience spanning social work, sociology, psychotherapy and academic research.
Denise is a Professor of Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire. Her expertise will strengthen UKMSA’s understanding of social issues, research and the wider factors that influence men’s health, wellbeing, connection and community.
A Board equipped for the future
The new intake includes people who are new to charity trustee roles, alongside trustees with extensive experience across the voluntary sector. This brings a balance of fresh perspectives and established charity governance experience.
“Men’s Sheds are a grassroots movement: as a national support body for them UKMSA is a growing national charity operating in an increasingly complex environment.
We now have even more Shedders around the Board table, alongside people with other relevant expertise to help us deliver ‘a Shed for everyone who wants one’.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who applied, and to the new Trustees for the contribution they will make to the Men’s Sheds movement,” said Rob Lloyd.
The Board also retains significant experience in its key leadership and governance roles, including Chris Griffiths, Vice Chair Andrew Johnston, People Committee Chair Jo Philips, and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee Mark O’Neil,
Continuing to benefit from experience
John Latchford stepped down as a UKMSA trustee in August 2026, having reached the point where he was no longer eligible for re-election under the terms of the organisation’s Constitution.
However, recognising the depth of John’s experience and the significant number of new trustees joining the Board in October, UKMSA has asked John to remain involved with the Board in a non-voting advisory capacity.
His continued involvement will provide valuable continuity and organisational knowledge as the new Board settles into its roles.
Mike Jenn, founder of UKMSA, remains President.

SINGAPORE, Oct 14, 2026 - Oritain, global leaders in forensic origin verification, announced the release of its Supplier Intelligence Report, a dedicated supplier deep dive building on findings from the inaugural 2026 Global Supply Chain Intelligence Report.
Drawing on Oritain’s supplier intelligence* across key global manufacturing hubs, the report offers a unique view into how suppliers are responding to growing regulatory scrutiny, customer expectations and sourcing pressures. The findings challenge a common industry assumption: suppliers are not resisting transparency. Instead, they are actively investing in traceability, seeking stronger collaboration and looking for credible ways to demonstrate trust.
The report suggests the industry is entering a new phase of supply chain integrity. While traceability has become increasingly established, the next challenge is ensuring supply chain claims can be supported by independent evidence. As brands, retailers and manufacturers face greater scrutiny from regulators, investors and consumers alike, the ability to substantiate provenance and sourcing claims is becoming a critical business capability.
The research draws on supplier insights from key manufacturing markets, complementing findings from the 2026 Global Supply Chain Intelligence Report, which examined sourcing risk, enforcement trends and consumer trust across global supply chains, by shining a light on the evolving priorities, challenges and opportunities facing suppliers themselves.
From Traceability to Trust: The Rise of Verified Supply Chain Ecosystems
The Supplier Intelligence Report highlights a significant shift in supplier attitudes towards transparency and verification.
Nearly 80% of suppliers surveyed already operate some form of traceability solution, while 75% are open to adopting new traceability technologies. More significantly, 77% expressed interest in participating in origin verification initiatives, highlighting growing recognition that transparency alone is no longer enough to build trust in today's supply chain environment.
"The findings tell a different story than many people expect," said Gemma Lynch, Chief Customer Officer at Oritain.
"Suppliers are not pushing back against transparency. They are actively looking for ways to participate in a more trusted supply chain ecosystem. The challenge is no longer willingness to engage. The challenge is ensuring claims can be substantiated with credible evidence when questions arise."
Key Insights from Oritain's Supplier Intelligence Report
Collaboration is Emerging as a Competitive Advantage: 77% of suppliers surveyed expressed interest in collaborating on origin verification initiatives, signalling growing momentum towards shared responsibility across supply chains.
Transparency is Becoming a Business Imperative: More than 85% of suppliers describe supply chain transparency as important or very important to their business, reinforcing that transparency is now a core commercial consideration rather than a niche sustainability issue.
Traceability Adoption Has Accelerated: Nearly 80% of suppliers already use traceability solutions, while 75% remain open to adopting new technologies, demonstrating continued investment across the sector.
Customer and Consumer Expectations Are Driving Change: 81% of suppliers identified consumer demand as a key driver of transparency efforts, while retailer and customer requirements continue to shape investment decisions.
Leadership Engagement is Growing: 73% per cent of suppliers involve executive leadership in traceability and transparency decisions, suggesting these issues are increasingly viewed as strategic priorities.
Verification is the Next Frontier: As traceability becomes increasingly common, suppliers are seeking more credible ways to validate sourcing claims and differentiate themselves in competitive markets.
Building the Future Through Connected Networks
The report arrives shortly after Oritain announced significant enhancements to its Membership program, creating a stronger framework for collaboration between brands, suppliers and manufacturers.
Combining forensic origin verification, supply chain intelligence and a growing network of verified participants, Oritain Membership is designed to help organisations move beyond isolated compliance towards a more connected ecosystem built on trust, transparency and evidence.
"The future of supply chain integrity will not be built by organisations operating in isolation," said Lynch.
"It will be built through networks of buyers and suppliers working from a shared foundation of trusted data, independent verification and actionable intelligence. As expectations continue to rise, organisations need more than visibility into their supply chains. They need confidence in the information they are using to make decisions. Our role is to provide the science, intelligence and verification that help make that possible."
* The research surveyed 122 senior decision-makers, primarily at director level or above, across 10 markets (China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Türkiye, Vietnam, Singapore, Bangladesh and Pakistan), with 80% of respondents having more than four years of industry experience.

Guangzhou, Oct 14, 2026 - Airwheel, a smart mobility brand specializing in intelligent rideable luggage and personal mobility solutions, will showcase the SE3SXD Ai Luxury Suitcase and a range of smart electric cabin suitcases at the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair). Across the exhibition, Airwheel will present its latest product innovations, engineering capabilities and expanding portfolio to international distributors, retailers and business partners seeking differentiated solutions for the evolving travel market.
As travel increasingly intersects with connected technology and personal mobility, Airwheel is exploring a new role for luggage: moving beyond storage to become an active part of the travel experience. Through electric riding systems, intelligent controls and user-oriented industrial design, the company aims to make everyday journeys more convenient while creating new possibilities for the traditional luggage category.
SE3SXD: A New Approach to the Smart Cabin Luxury Suitcase
At the center of Airwheel's exhibition lineup is the SE3SXD AI Smart Electric Suitcase, a flagship model that combines luggage storage, electric riding and connected features in a single product.
Designed around the idea of making technology more intuitive, the SE3SXD features a one-touch dual-drive automatic telescopic mechanism. Its powered front-wheel structure and linked smart handle are designed to extend and lock into riding position through a coordinated operation, reducing the need for multiple manual adjustments when switching from luggage mode to riding mode.
The SE3SXD integrates electric mobility with smart connectivity. Through its dedicated app, users can access riding-related information and control functions, while Apple Find My support provides an additional way to locate the suitcase using compatible Apple devices. A USB output offers added convenience for charging compatible personal electronics.
The model reaches a maximum riding speed of 9.9 km/h, supports a maximum load of 95 kg and provides approximately 20 liters of storage capacity. It uses a removable 73.26Wh lithium battery, and its compact format is designed with modern carry-on travel in mind.
Rather than adding technology for its own sake, Airwheel's approach focuses on integrating mechanical engineering, intelligent interaction and practical travel functions into one cohesive product experience.
A Broader Portfolio for Different Travel Needs
The SE3SXD is part of a wider Airwheel smart rideable luggage portfolio developed for different users, travel scenarios and retail segments.
The SE3SX offers a premium smart electric cabin suitcase experience, combining electric riding, app connectivity and Apple Find My support in a compact format. The SE3SL+ Boarding Suitcase emphasizes lightweight construction and everyday travel convenience, while the established SE3S and SE3SL Scooter suitcase models bring electric riding functionality to the familiar suitcase form.
For travelers seeking a more compact option, the SE3MiniT Hand Suitcase offers a smaller rideable luggage format. The SE3T provides a larger-capacity solution for family and extended travel scenarios, while the SQ3 and SQ3S Kids suitcase series bring rideable luggage concepts to family-oriented and younger-user applications.
Together, these products reflect Airwheel's strategy of developing a portfolio rather than relying on a single flagship model. For international buyers, the range creates opportunities to evaluate different product configurations and identify solutions that match local consumer preferences, retail positioning and distribution strategies.
Engineering Innovation Backed by Global Intellectual Property
Airwheel's product development is supported by continued investment in research and development. The company reports more than 600 patents globally, covering areas including electric drive systems, motion control, intelligent sensing, structural engineering and human-machine interaction.
These technologies support the development of integrated smart mobility products in which mechanical structures, electronic controls and user interfaces work together. In rideable luggage, this requires more than adding a motor to a suitcase: it involves coordinating the riding mechanism, handling characteristics, control systems and conventional luggage functions within a compact product.
Airwheel's broader intellectual property strategy also includes trademarks registered in more than 168 countries and regions, supporting its international brand development and market presence.
For Airwheel, intellectual property represents both an engineering foundation and a long-term commitment to product differentiation in an increasingly competitive global market.
International Design Recognition and Premium Market Development
Design is another important part of Airwheel's product strategy. The company's smart rideable luggage portfolio has received more than 100 international design awards, according to Airwheel, with recognition spanning design programs and markets in the United States, Europe, Japan, Italy, Germany and France.
Among the recognized programs are the German iF Design Award, the U.S. International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), the MUSE Design Awards, the Berlin Design Awards, the European Product Design Awards and other international design competitions. Different products have received different honors over time, reflecting the portfolio's continued development across form, functionality and user experience.
For Airwheel, design is not limited to exterior appearance. It also involves the relationship between the suitcase's structure, riding mechanism, portability, controls and the way users interact with the product during a journey.
The company is also expanding its presence in premium retail environments and established retail channels. Its products have entered selected high-end shopping malls and retail networks, while models including the SE3SL+ and SE3ST have gained placement in Sam's Club in China. These channel developments provide additional opportunities for consumers to experience smart rideable luggage in physical retail settings and for the brand to broaden its reach beyond online sales.
Airwheel's strategy combines product innovation, international design recognition and retail development to build a more differentiated position in the smart travel market.
Meet Airwheel at the 140th Canton Fair
The 140th Canton Fair provides an opportunity for Airwheel to connect directly with international importers, distributors, luggage retailers, travel-related businesses and potential regional partners.
